MEET O+U

Founder

Noelani (or Noe for short) is originally from North Kohala, Hawaii Island — where she was born and raised throughout her early childhood. Born to teenage parents, Noe understands the hardships that can come along with having to grow up at an expedited rate — at times experiencing food, financial and housing insecurities. In spite of these hardships, however, Noe’s core has always been rooted in the strength of her faith and family.

Noe currently resides on the island of Oahu with her amazing husband and two beautiful keiki. She attended Azusa Pacific University and The University of Hawaii at Mānoa. It was there that she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work. Two years post graduation, Noe earned the distinction of Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Noe has been practicing within the Field of Social Work for approximately 20 years and counts each day as a blessing. Her work experience has primarily been with children and families in the Wai’anae and Kapolei areas, although her employment experience has given her the opportunity to serve many different populations — individuals and families — from Kahala to Kahuku to Ka’ena and most everywhere in between. Engaging with individuals, hearing their narratives, understanding their challenges, and inspiring them to reach their potential has always been a joy and gift.

Noe has a huge heart to help and serve those in our pae ‘āina (islands) — beginning in the most underserved communities and outwards.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

AND VALUES

Akua

Some people call it "light", "energy", "the universe" -- I call Him Jesus. A higher power is at work within us and in all circumstances. Akua gives us the strength & fortitude to make it thru each day.

Ho’omau

The undeniable right, privilege and belief that we are able to persevere through any obstacle, life circumstance and trauma.

Na’au

The basic instinct of trusting (and learning to trust) our intuition. Trusting that voice deep inside our soul that is spurring us on to our highest and most authentic self.

Kuleana

The responsibility we have to ourselves, to our ‘ohana, to our kūpuna & to our communities -- to do what is right and to mālama the light that exists within.

Piko

The connection we have to the past, the present and the future -- is a source of wisdom, guidance and never-ending hope.

The ‘Iwa

The ‘Iwa is a symbolic representation of the mission and values that have been prayerfully woven into the fabric of Onward + Upward Mental Health Studio. According to Hawaiian mythology, these high-soaring ‘Iwa served as guides -- specifically to those who became lost in the dense forests of the Wai’anae and Kaʻala mountain ranges. Known for their beauty, grace and ability to predict storms -- the ‘Iwa also represents guidance and safe passage.

Most of us, at some point in time, become “lost” in the “dense forest” of life. It is my hope, that as with the ‘Iwa — I can come along side you, to help navigate and guide you to safer and more peaceful places — in your mind, in your homes, in your marriage, in your relationships, at school and at your places of work.

I’d be so honored to be a part of your journey as you soar ONWARD + UPWARD.
